About Luckenbooth

The Luckenbooth Legend...

The Luckenbooth design has very romantic origins. It is said to have been deigned as the betrothal brooch for Mary Queen of Scots from the Dauphin of France whom she married in 1558, hence the two hearts surrounded by the crown.

In those days brooches were given instead of rings for betrothal, and the design was copied and sold from the “Locked Booths” near St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.

Luckenbooth is a partnership of Alison ( Ali to all! ) and Joyce Noble. It was formed recently, in 2005, but Ali and Joyce have, as a team, been organising weddings and similar important events since 1994. Both good listeners and good communicators, we offer our local knowledge and contacts to help you experience a special day in this beautiful area - a day to remember happily for the rest of your life.

Not only can we organise your special day for you, but can offer a balloon decoration service from our friendly shop in Stafford Street, Oban. Trained balloon artists, we can travel to your venue to work our magic, and will provide a full no-obligation quote for decorations, on request. We have decorated for not only weddings, but anniversaries, special birthdays, theme parties, children’s parties etc. We pride ourselves on offering a very personal, friendly service.
